Terence WalterHOLTIt is with great sadness that we announce Terry Holt’s passing, after a short illness, on 7 December 2025, aged 82.
Terry was the beloved husband of Sylvia, a loving dad to his two daughters Kirstie and Jennie, and a cherished grandad to his grandchildren, Jessica, Katie and Harry. His family was his greatest joy, and his warmth and devotion will be remembered always.
A retired Chartered Mechanical Engineer, Terry brought skill, passion and dedication to his profession. Beyond his career, he was a lifelong campaigner for local and national causes close to his heart, which reflected his deep sense of social justice, fairness and commitment to improving the lives of others. Terry’s lifelong love of trains and music was legendary. He was especially fond of the Great Central Railway, where he spent many happy hours indulging his passion for railways and history.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, loved him, and were inspired by his tireless efforts and kind spirit. Terry’s life was a life well lived.
Terry’s committal will be held at Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium on Tuesday 27th January at 10:45am followed by a celebration of his life at St James Church, Normanton-on-Soar at 12 noon.
All are welcome, wearing what attendees feel comfortable in; please don’t feel compelled to wear sombre colours.
We will thereafter be celebrating Terry’s life and raising a glass to him immediately after the church service with a buffet lunch at The Plough, Normanton on Soar. Should you intend to come along to the buffet, please email Terry’s daughter at [email protected], so that numbers of attendees can be ascertained for catering purposes.
In lieu of flowers, the family invite those wishing to honour Terry’s memory to make a charitable donation to the British Red Cross.
